Hooray for long weekends

Tino and I are off to Cheddar this weekend. Cheddar is in Somerset and yes, it is the home of the original cheddar cheese! What better destination for a cheese freak like me, sounds perfect. Orignally only cheese made within 30 miles of Wells Cathedral could be classified as Cheddar, now it is the generic name for any block of hard cheese, it's a shame really. Not so long ago, requirements were brought in to protect real Regiano Parmigiano cheese, Champagne and Parma Ham, it will be great if we see this continue to protect traditional industries.

We'll be going to the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company, which is the only remaining cheese factory in Cheddar itself and we'll see the cheese being made, before ending up in the tasting room and no doubt buy some cheese and delicious pickles to go with it. Mmmmm

Of course it is not just about cheese, we're also going to be getting out into the countryside, we'll be visiting Cheddar Gorge, the largest gorge in the UK, so we'll be doing a bit of walking. Hopefully we'll be visiting Coulter's family on Sunday too. I can't wait!

Like the cheese picture! Did you buy cheese as you thought?

Yes, please provide an update on the cheese and pickle situation. Did you "gorge" on cheese while in Cheddar?

Can't wait to do little trips with you when we get over to the UK!
